Vestas will be supplying a new customer in Germany with seven state-of-the-art V112-3.0 MW turbines.

Erneuerbare Energien Teetzleben GmbH & Co. KG has ordered the turbines for the Breesen-Teetzleben Wind Farm in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Germany. The project has a total capacity of 21 MW.

Delivery of the turbines is scheduled to be completed by mid-2011. The contract includes supply, installation and commissioning of the turbines, a VestasOnline® Business SCADA system and a 3-year service agreement.

"We are very happy that this new customer Erneuerbare Energien Teetzleben GmbH & Co. KG has chosen our newest turbine, the V112-3.0 MW," says Hans Jorn Rieks, President of Vestas Central Europe. "This was a very competitive project, and we see this sale as a strong endorsement of the V112 and its very strong business case for customers – particularly for the many low and medium wind sites in Germany."

"For this project we have carefully evaluated the offers of four leading wind turbine manufacturers," explains Matthias Niedzwetzki, CEO of Erneuerbare Energien Teetzleben. "Our decision to choose Vestas' V112- 3.0 MW turbine was based on a combination of several important facts: The V112-3.0 MW will bring us the absolute best return of investment for this project compared to the supply of the competitors. The price also played a role, but especially important to us was the logistical part. Under good conditions, the V112-3.0 MW can be installed in a couple of days which is very important for us, as we drive for an installation in the second part of 2011. Finally, we have been delighted with the excellent support of Vestas.

A few days ago, I have personally taken the opportunity to see the V112 live and to learn about Vestas' production in Lem, Ringkobing and Aarhus, and I was convinced of the high production and audit standards. Equally interesting are the new, differentiated service concepts, which offer us maximum flexibility in connection with our planned operations concept," he concludes.

About the V112-3.0 MW turbine

The V112-3.0 MW turbine is the product of Vestas' 30 years of knowledge and passion for wind energy and the experience that comes with installing over 41,000 turbines in 65 countries across five continents. Vestas' focus on constant innovation and on applying new technological solutions results in increased performance of our wind turbines and a low cost of energy – ensuring a top-quality business case that generates a solid return on investment for our customers.

This result comes from exhaustive design solutions and subsequent testing of the V112-3.0 MW to optimise the performance of all components and minimise turbine downtime for servicing. A new blade profile, nacelle design and cooling-system deliver optimised operation, while the new generator and full-scale converter technology deliver high, stable plant output complying with most stringent grid requirements worldwide.

The V112-3.0 MW also demonstrates Vestas' focus on providing solutions for the entire global wind energy sector: A turbine that offers a better way to harness the world's ample supplies of low and medium winds and provides excellent grid support contributing to higher grid stability, and a turbine that is easier to transport and install in sites where installing a wind farm presents significant challenges. In addition, the turbine offers very competitive noise performance through configurable noise modes with minimal loss of production.
