Vestas Receives 104 MW Order in Canada

Vestas has received a 104 MW order for 58 V90-1.8 MW turbines for a wind-energy project in Canada. The contract includes delivery and commissioning along with a 10-year service and maintenance agreement. Delivery is scheduled for mid-2012 and commissioning expected in the fall of 2012.

"Vestas is delighted to have been chosen to work with our customer to add an additional 104 megawatts of wind power to the Canadian electricity market," said Martha Wyrsch, President of Vestas Americas. "This project will help fuel Canada's economic growth and also help meet their clean energy needs." Vestas' manufacturing facilities in Colorado will produce all of the blades and nacelles for this project.

"The V90-1.8 MW is designed to operate at sites with medium-wind conditions and is built on proven technology to ensure component reliability and durability," Wyrsch said. "This has led to extremely high energy production from the V90-1.8 MW turbine."

As of December 31, 2010, Vestas had supplied an industry-leading 1,021 turbines to Canada totaling 1,683 MW of installed wind capacity.
