Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki expressed his country's readiness to supply Europe with gas and oil during the coming years. Al-Maliki expressed, during a meeting with Ambassador of the European Union in Baghdad Pana Haascova, Iraq's desire to establish good relations with everyone, especially the European Union. According to a statement issued by his office, the Prime Minister also expressed desire of his country to expand cooperation and to benefit from European expertise, especially in the field of education.
"We want to be part of European presence in Iraq through the cooperation and participation in the process of reconstruction and construction," he pointed out, adding that his government welcomed the conclusion of a cooperation agreement with the European Union. He noted that Iraq is ready to supply Europe with energy, oil and gas in the coming years, "as Iraq would be having a high export capacity". For her part, Haascove expressed the desire of the European Union to support Iraq, which plays an important role in the stability of the Middle East.
