Fielding Systems announced the release of its oil and gas production management software products, FieldVisor and ScadaVisor, on the Microsoft Windows Azure platform to provide its customers with increased throughput, unlimited scalability, and the highest levels of reliability.
“Our software enables oil and gas producers to maximize production and reduce downtime by making production information accessible anytime, anywhere,” said Shawn Cutter, president of Fielding Systems. “Releasing our products on Microsoft’s Windows Azure platform enables us to focus solely on our technology and not on day-to-day infrastructure, allowing us to concentrate on innovation and the creation of features that are the most beneficial to our clients.”
Cutter noted another important benefit of cloud computing for his clients: they only pay for the resources needed, as they are used. “The Windows Azure platform enables Fielding Systems to provide resources on demand, so users can have as much or as little service as they need at any time. Servers and storage are the responsibility of the provider, not the user. It’s a much more affordable way for our clients to utilize our software.”
Fielding Systems offers two cutting-edge software products with capabilities that are unmatched in the oil and gas industry: FieldVisor and ScadaVisor. FieldVisor is an intuitive, web-based field data capture and operations management application that provides end-to-end support for all production activities. ScadaVisor is an innovative, web-based SCADA solution that monitors remote devices such as flow computers, compressors, pump off controllers, and artificial life devices.
As web-based applications, both FieldVisor and ScadaVisor can be accessed from any type of computer with an internet connection. Both also have robust mobile versions that can run on an iPhone, Android or Blackberry. Microsoft’s Windows Azure cloud-based Platform as a Service (PaaS) is used by application developers such as Fielding Systems to host and scale web applications in Microsoft’s datacenters. The Windows Azure platform is built atop a fabric of interconnected nodes of servers, high-speed connections, and switches that is actively managed so that there are always several layers of redundancy guaranteeing customers 99.9% uptime.
“Fielding Systems can now provide its clients the benefits of the Windows Azure platform,” said Prashant Ketkar, Director of Product Management, Windows Azure, at Microsoft. “Those benefits include data storage, reliability and disaster recovery, and pricing.” Fielding Systems can also distribute its application services anywhere in the world, giving the company complete global reach.
