The roundtable was chaired by Rustam Minnikhanov, President of the Republic of Tatarstan, and it was attended by Rinat Sabirov, Assistant to the President of the Republic of Tatarstan, Renat Muslimov, Advisor to the President of the Republic of Tatarstan on the development of oil and gas fields, Akhmet Mazgarov, President of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tatarstan, Irina Larochkina, Deputy Minister of Energy of the Republic of Tatarstan, Almaz Galleev, Assistant to the Prime Minister on issues of the oil and gas complex, Raffinat Yarullin, General Director of OAO "Tatneftekhiminvest Holding", Shafagat Takhautdinov, General Director of OAO TATNEFT, top managers of the Company, and heads of independent small enterprises of Tatarstan. The discussion was also attended by senior officials of the Department of Mineral Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan, professors of higher educational institutions in Tatarstan, representatives of scientific and commissioning organizations in Tatarstan.

Before the meeting the roundtable participants had visited the exhibition-presentation of the latest technologies and developments in the field of crude oil production of the leading companies in the Republic.

The display of TATNEFT presented in detail major advanced developments of TatNIPIneft providing for efficient operation of the fields. Among them there were the most up to date methods of enhanced crude oil recovery and well stimulation, the rapidly developing technology of dual completion and production (DCP) of two or more layers through one well. Significant position at the Company's stand was devoted to an innovative development of the formation hydraulic fracturing method, as well as to modern methods of resource saving and management of horizontal wells operation, and also the development of oil deposits in carbonate reservoirs, interconnected through the production zone of the well.

Rais Khisamov, Deputy Director General - Chief Geologist of OAO TATNEFT presented in his report at the round table discussions topical issues of geological exploration and areas of innovative technologies development for stabilizing crude oil production in 2012 and in future. At present for the purpose of stabilizing crude oil production at current levels the Company is currently implementing sophisticated technologies such as horizontal and multilateral drilling, hydraulic fracturing, penetration of sidetracking and lateral horizontal wellbores, using advanced methods of commissioning idle wells, development of extra-viscous and high- viscosity oil fields. It should be noted here that the production of extra-viscous oil from Ashalchinskoye field during 5 years amounted to more than 100 thousand tons with the current daily production amounting to 155 tons. The maximum oil production rate per well reached 43 t/day. The maximum cumulative production per well amounted to 37 thousand tons. Rais Khisamov noted main issues on which the scientists of Tatarstan needed to provide new technical and technological solutions.

Nail Ibragimov, First Deputy General Director for Operations - Chief Engineer of OAO TATNEFT, turned attention to innovative technical solutions applied by the Company to improve the efficiency of crude oil production. He also highlighted the main points of possible application of the potential of the fundamental Tatarstan’s science in solving relevant production problems. Among them there are increase of the mean time between failures period, improving marginal wells production, reliability of pipelines for heavy oil and energy efficiency.

Ravil Ibatullin, Director of TatNIPIneft, familiarized the event participants with new trends in technology and engineering solutions for their involvement in the development of hard-to-recover oil reserves, as well as with the proposals of the Kazan scientists on topical issues of the oil industry in the Republic.

The report of Fanis Valiev, General Director of OAO "Neftekonsortsium", was devoted to introducing innovative technologies in the fields of small oil companies of the Republic.

A report on the ways of improving the performance of geological studies of the republican subsurface for the innovative development of the industry branch with the aim of stabilizing crude oil production and enhancement of crude oil recovery was presented by Renat Muslimov, Advisor to the President of the Republic of Tatarstan on the development of oil and gas fields.

Rinat Kharisov, General Director of OOO "TNG-Group" informed about the developments carried out jointly with the Federal University of Kazan in detailed geological study of Tatarstan deposits with application of new instruments and equipment, as well as about the advanced software products of "TNG-Group" to create a geological modules of the fields.

During the discussion, Shafagat Takhautdinov, General Director of OAO TATNEFT, emphasized the necessity of consolidation of the fundamental and applied science for current improvement of the crude oil fields’ development efficiency.

Summarizing the discussion, Rustam Minnikhanov noted that research developments contributed to the development of competitiveness of the country. Such roundtables bring the science and production together. President of the Republic of Tatarstan suggested attracting all the intellectual and scientific potential of the Republic, as well as prominent Russian scientists to participation in such events.
