AMEC plc has won a gas pipeline engineering, procurement and construction contract in Yemen with its partner Hawk International. The two-year contract, worth more than $200 million, (AMEC’s share 55%) has been awarded to AMEC SPIE Capag by Yemen LNG company, a subsidiary of TOTAL. The pipeline will carry gas from a field close to the town of Marib, 180km east of the Yemeni capital Sana’a, to an LNG terminal being built close to Bal Haf in the Gulf of Aden.

The project will involve the development of 320km of 38 inch gas pipeline and 25km of 20 inch pipeline together with a number of ancillary structures.

“This important contract was won on the back of our long-standing relationships in the region and our reputation for delivering pipeline projects in harsh environments,” said AMEC SPIE Capag Managing Director Daniel Gasquet.
