Yemen, Oil Search Discuss Exploration Activities

Oil and Minerals Minister Hisham Sharaf has discussed with director of Oil Search ROY work progress and exploration activities in the two blocks 3 and 7 at Shabwa province. At their meeting, the director reviewed work development and the exploration stage the company reached in block3 and 7 particularly in gas field.

He also said the company cannot complete carrying out its tasks as it should be if there will not be amendment of the signed agreement like the others that approved by the parliament for the companies during the past years.

For his part, the Minister urged the company to work according to the prepared plan in the exploration stages.

"As for the gas and items which the company and other companies want to revise the agreements according to, the ministry has already included the participation in the exploitation of gas in the agreements signed in 2008 and 2009 and ratified by the parliament", he added.

He also gave further explanation and said the ministry takes into account all parties' right in this regards and seeks to submit the required proposals of gas exploration to the concerned authorities in the government and parliament in order to complete the modifications to serve the best interests of Yemen and partners as well, he added.
