Iranian, Pakistani Presidents Agree to Pursue IP Pipeline

Iranian and Pakistani president underlined the need to accelerate the construction of the IP gas pipeline.

Iran’s President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and his Pakistani counterpart Asif Ali Zardari, during their meeting Thursday on the sidelines of Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit in Beijing, agreed to vigorously pursue the Iran-Pakistan gas pipeline project as well as supply of electricity to Pakistan, Iran’s SHANA news agency reported.

Spokesperson to the President Senator Farhatullah Babar said that the two leaders also agreed to resolve urgently the issue of credit for the Iran-Pakistan gas pipeline so as to complete it expeditiously.

It’s worth mentioning that, relevant minister and officials from both sides will now meet to further take forward the decisions taken in principle.

Secretary Petroleum Ejaz Chaudhry said that Iran-Pakistan gas pipeline project would be completed up to December 2014.

He also stated that Pakistan is serious in the gas pipeline project.
