Leading figures from the international Oil & Gas industry will be heading to Muscat later this month to discuss the latest benefits of Digital Oil Field (DOF) deployment at IDOC 2012, the Third International Digital Oilfield Conference that annually reviews the latest usage of DOF in the Gulf Region.
DOF uses the latest information and communications technology and workplace systems and has been proven to increase Oil & Gas production levels while at the same time facilitating significant cost savings. Presentations and case studies on DOF benefits will be made by Shell, Statoil, Maersk, ADCO, KOC, Saudi Aramco, PDO and some of the world’s most prestigious international service companies, including Microsoft and Siemens.
PDO, the host and main sponsor, will present five papers at the September 24-25 conference, which is being held under the patronage of Dr Mohammed bin Hamed al Rumhy, Minister of Oil and Gas. Experts will describe their ongoing work on the Company’s ambitious smart fields programme and report on how wireless developments are improving remote monitoring and control and thus making significant cost savings. There will also be a PDO presentation outlining how smart field technology significantly contributes to improved health and safety. Other highlights will include a live demonstration of how visual collaboration centres are a critical part of improving the overall efficiency of managing the exploration and production aspects of the Oil & Gas business.
Given the amount of data that needs managing in the sector, particularly in real time, a further highlight of IDOC 2012 will be the Pre-Conference Workshop on ‘Understanding ICT Issues for DOF Optimisation’. Dr Nick Coles, Chair of the IDOC Advisory Committee, said: “Together with the associated exhibition that will demonstrate the latest DOF services and equipment available on the market, IDOC 2012 will cover the best practices for successful design and implementation of DOF throughout the region.” PDO Managing Director Raoul Restucci said: “We look forward to welcoming some of the leading experts in the world from the Oil and Gas industry and sharing some of our own expertise on smart field development.”
