Abu Dhabi, UAE, During a press conference held last July at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Center (ADNEC), key players representing the region’s oil and gas sector announced that the Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference (ADIPEC), the largest event for the industry in the Middle East, will become an annual event starting from 2013.
The announcement was made in the presence of key industry figures, including Ali Al Jarwan, CEO of ADMA-OPCO and Chairman of ADIPEC 2012; Mohammed Sahoo Al Suwaidi, CEO of GASCO; Humaid Al Dhaheri, Chief Sales and Marketing Officer for ADNEC; and Geoff Dickinson, President, dmg:: events Middle East and Asia, organizers of ADIPEC.
As Event Chairman for ADIPEC 2012, Ali Al Jarwan has been instrumental in the development and growth of ADIPEC, and is tasked with overseeing the significant responsibility of staging the biggest Oil and Gas industry event in the Middle East.
In his speech, Mr. Al Jarwan highlighted the history and growth of the event, stating: “ADIPEC began as a biennial event in 1984 as a platform for oil and gas professionals to come together to network, discover new ideas, and debate our core industry issues. Over the years we have witnessed ADIPEC grow in stature, significance and size with every exhibition since.”
“This growth and demand is unabated. We continue to have a waiting list of exhibitors and require yet more space, and therefore there is a need for an annual platform,” he added.
Mohammed Sahoo Al Suwaidi of GASCO, who has been appointed as Chairman for ADIPEC 2013, said: “Understandably, with the oil and gas industry in the region growing rapidly and with an increasing focus on best practice, there has been a demand to make ADIPEC an annual event from 2013.”
ADIPEC 2013, taking place in November 2013, will have a strong focus on gas, reflecting its increasing share of the global energy mix and heightened regional demand for gas for power generation.
Mr. Al Suwaidi continued: “With the growth of gas projects in the region, the focus on gas for the conference programme will help aid business in the region. I am honored to be appointed Chairman for ADIPEC 2013 and look forward to building on past success.”
Abu Dhabi is at the heart of the oil and gas industry, and ADIPEC has played a significant role in positioning Abu Dhabi as a key destination for this sector.
“ADNEC is looking forward to welcoming the next edition of ADIPEC”, said Humaid Al Dhaheri, ADNEC’s Chief Sales and Marketing Officer. “Just as the show has become established internationally, so has ADNEC. As the show has grown, our venue has grown as well, matching the needs of the event with the most modern facilities and technology.”
In concluding the press conference, Geoff Dickinson from dmg::events, said: “On behalf of dmg::events, I’d like to thank both Ali Al Jarwan and his team at ADMA-OPCO, as well as Mohammed Sahoo Al Suwaidi and the GASCO team for their ongoing support. Dmg is proud to be associated with such an important event, which is supporting the growth of the industry as well as business and tourism within the city of Abu Dhabi.”
Held under the patronage of the President of the United Arab Emirates, His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and organized by dmg:: events, ADIPEC is the largest exhibition for the Middle East oil and gas industry. Supported by Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) and the UAE's Ministry of Energy, it hosts over 1,600 exhibitors and attracts more than 45,000 attendees and is considered the event where oil and gas industry professionals get together to experience, discover, network, discuss and debate core industry issues.
