Bumi Armada Berhad (BAB) took delivery of its 43rd vessel offshore support vessel (OSV), Armada Hibiscus (formerly GSP Bigfoot 3), from Sam Jung Holdings Limited.

Armada Hibiscus is a 100m, 300-man accommodation work-barge with a gross weight of 10,650 tons, that was built by Oriental Precision Engineering in Korea in 2009. The vessel has 1,338sqm of free deck space, crane with a maximum lifting capacity of 500 tons and a helideck.

The Armada Hibiscus will, as per the Company’s earlier release, go to work for ENI Spa (Italy) off the shores of the Republic of Congo in December 2012. The contract worth approximately RM 56 million is for a period of two years with extension options of two periods of one year each for a further aggregated contract value of RM 56 million.

This will add to BAB’s OSV offering in the Congo, as the Company currently has another accommodation work-barge, the Armada Mahakam, and an AHTS, the Armada Tuah 82, already working there.
