Redline Communications Group Inc., a leading provider of broadband wireless solutions for machine-to-machine (M2M) communications announced that it has now shipped over 300 of its RAS wireless nomadic systems, providing broadband connectivity to oil and gas drilling rigs in the U.S. and the Middle East.

Oil and gas drilling rigs are increasingly becoming fitted with advanced networking gear such as Wi-Fi, switches and routers that are used to connect real time drilling systems, remotely monitor and manage sensors, connect office applications, deliver video and provide voice communications. Until recently these rigs were isolated, with only local communications or slow and/or expensive satellite connectivity. Redline changed all that with its RAS System, the market-leading terrestrial mobile broadband solution that delivers extremely secure wire-like connection quality to nomadic oil field assets such as mobile offices, well test units, fracking units, and operations vehicles. RAS’s high speed long range connection capability allows rigs to become part of a larger networked system, connecting them to corporate systems and the Internet, effectively turning them into ruggedized connected offices, regardless of whether they are 5 or 500 miles from the corporate network.

Redline, known for its high speed, highly secure reliable wireless systems, has become the de-facto standard for communications in very remote areas, where there are harsh conditions and huge areas to be connected, and where no other communication system exists or can operate. The urgent and growing need for reliable high speed connectivity in these remote areas has resulted in higher than expected demand for Redline’s award-winning Redline RAS nomadic system, the patented super high-speed wireless radio that delivers instant wireless connectivity when powered up. Introduced commercially only a few months ago in August 2012, the RAS system has garnered tremendous support from the industry.

“There is great demand for all of our solutions, and our RAS system drives a large part of our success in the oil and gas market,” said Eric Melka, Redline CEO. “The drive to network everything has created this momentum, and as our RAS enables networking companies to reach the tens of millions of networked devices located in remote areas, we see no signs of this letting up. We intend to help connect everything, everywhere.”

The RAS system was engineered for the unique networking requirements associated with operating in remote areas, such as oil and gas fields, military deployments, and utility applications. Its solid state antenna was specifically developed to eliminate moving parts, enhancing its ability to withstand shock, extended periods of vibration and almost any weather condition. Requiring no special training to operate, the software-defined RAS system enables multiple applications from a single vehicle or rig, including real-time M2M communications, SCADA, high resolution video, Wi-Fi, telephony and backhaul services.
