Initial Results for Messoyakha Pilot Project Made Public

First results of pilot development of the Messoyakha project have been announced. Under the project, well tests began at two well pads last year. The results show that the actual rates of the five horizontal producing wells drilled last year exceeded the expected value byan average of 17 percent. The maximum oil rate reached 250 tons per day.

The well tests confirmed that the horizontal drilling may be the best development scenario for the Messoyakha fields. The exploration data gathered in 2012 has produced more accurate geological models ofthe field and more detailed reservoir modeling than previous studies. The modeling work was a joint effort by Gazpromneft NTC and Halliburton.

In 2013 the pilot project will continue, with five more development wells to be drilled. It is also planned to put in five exploration wells for a better understanding of the field. The data obtained through drilling will shed more light on the geologic structure of the Messoyakha group of fields and help conduct pilot work atthe new sites inorder tosubsequently prepare optimal strategic plans for developing the fields and their infrastructure. Full-scale production at the Messoyakha project will begin after construction of the Arctic Circle-Purpe trunk oil pipeline.
