Orpic said that the fire damage at its Sohar Refinery is limited to the Wet Gas Scrubber, a secondary unit within the plant. The unit has been fenced off and the company is in the process of restarting the planned maintenance work in the other units within the refinery, said a company statement.

"We are pleased to report that there were no injuries as a result of fire at Orpic's Sohar Refinery," said Orpic's chief operating officer, Raphael De Loenen, in a statement. The company is in close contact with the local authorities to review the details of the fire. The company is currently conducting its planned shutdown.
