Mubark has inaugurated Idku complex for LNG, the largest project in Egypt. Egypt is among the top 6 producers of Natural gas in the world. The complex was built over 390 feddans on the Medriterian and is designed to accommodate four LNG trains.

Sameh Fahmy announced that the total investment for Idku LNG is 4.6 billion USD. The major shareholders in this project are BG, Petronas, EGAS and Gas De France with 35.5%, 35.5%, 12%, 12% and 5% respectively.

The compound consists of two trains; sixty percent of the production will go for export and the remaining 40% for local use. The complex comprises two storage facilities with a capacity of 140 thousands cubic meters. It also includes export facility for liquefied gas. The tankers capacities range between 40 thousands cubic meters and 160 thousands cubic meters.

Each train consists of three gas-handling units for removing CO2 and separating water and mercury, three units for cooling gas with Propane, Ethylene and Methane and one unit for separating heavy hydrocarbon condensates from gas.
