Mahmoud Zirakchian Zadeh, the managing director of IOOC, said, the development of "Hengam" oil field has paved the way for extending other fields in Qeshm Island and it is our final goal to turn the island into the country's zone of energy.
Zirakchian Zadeh, also stated that, within a very short time along with the endless efforts of Iranian experts, the production capacity of Qeshm Island oil field has reached to 30000 barrels per day and it is expected, this figure would increase to 40000 bpd.
Qeshm Island possesses more than 4 billion barrels of oil and almost 10 trillion cubic feet of gas. The Island is the biggest in the Persian Gulf, according to hydrocarbon fields, strategic situation of Strait of Hormuz, the country's border with Oman, and enjoys the beautiful scenery and infrastructure, with an opportunity to become a zone of energy in the Persian Gulf.
