The CLOV FPSO reached Porto Amboim in Angola on November 8, after a trip lasting 75 days and eight hours. A total of 220 people were aboard the huge vessel as it made the 18,520-kilometer journey from South Korea at an average speed of 9 to 10 kilometers per hour.

Hull and riser protectors and a water treatment module M122 topside — fabricated locally — will be installed on the 118,000-ton floating unit that, at 305 meters, is nearly as long as the Eiffel Tower is tall. This is the first time that this type of module will be installed on an FPSO in Angola.

The FPSO’s arrival is a milestone in the execution of the CLOV project, one of Total’s flagship developments. Located in the deepwater Gulf of Guinea, the cluster's reserves are estimated at more than 500 million barrels. First oil from CLOV is set for the second quarter of 2014.
