Libya's state oil firm has chartered a tanker to ship badly-needed crude to the country's second-biggest refinery in Zawiya, which supplies the capital Tripoli with fuel, oil officials said.
A mix of militias, tribesmen and political minorities demanding more rights or higher pay have seized most oil ports and fields, knocking down Libya's oil exports to a fraction of the once more than 1 million barrels per day.
That has left the 120,000 bpd-Zawiya refinery west of Tripoli struggling with crude supplies because protesters have shut down the connecting El Sharara oilfield.
State National Oil Corp (NOC) has sent the Shah Deniz tanker to Brega port, one of those still open in the east, to pick up crude for the Zawiya refinery, a shipping source closely following Libya said.
Reuters AIS Live ship tracking showed the tanker berthing at Brega on Nov 29.
A refinery official said NOC might even send a second tanker to Zawia as crude stocks would last only until the end of next week.
