Agility Subsea Fabrication (ASF ) has for the last nine months found that the market for subsea products have been weaker and more varied than has been the case in recent years. This trend will continue in 2014 . The market is expected to gradually improve in 2015 .
The management of Agility Subsea Fabrication has worked intensely in autumn to meet the situation in the market. They have concluded that it is necessary to adapt the organization to create a cost-effective operation and ensure competitiveness in both the short and longer term.
Board of Agility Group has therefore taken a decision to implement a workforce reduction totaling 36 positions at its workshops in Tonsberg and Portrush. The workforce will total will be reduced from 289 to 253 employees and will affect both administrative resources ( 10) and operators ( 26). Tonsberg and Langesund will be approximately equally charged by staffing reductions .
The management of Agility Subsea Fabrication has worked closely with the unions at the two locations in this process , and there is an agreed understanding that layoffs are to avoid this situation . The implementation of the dismissals will take place in cooperation with the unions and will take place during the month of January.
Agility Subsea Fabrication has over time worked with the conditions for optimum operation . It was in 2013 decided to build a new modern facility for subsea fabrication by Rora in Skien municipality. This facility is scheduled for completion by the end of May 2014. The factory at Rora will form a solid basis for a better competitiveness and a good foundation for profitable growth over time . Construction work is on schedule and will be completed well within the stipulated deadlines .
