Algeria and Spain can develop a strategic partnership by opening their bilateral cooperation to other fields than hydrocarbons, Foreign Minister Ramtane Lamamra said in Madrid.
"I have high hopes that Algeria and Spain can develop a strategic partnership in which, beside energy sector, other cooperation areas develop, especially in industry, tourism and food-processing," he said at a news conference Wednesday at the Casa Arabe in Madrid.
Lamamra seized the opportunity to encourage Spanish businessmen to explore business and investment opportunities offered by Algeria in all fields.
"Spanish companies, seeking to expand their activities, will receive support from Algerian authorities, in addition to the several tax privileges offered to foreign investors who wish to develop real projects in Algeria, in partnership with local firms," Foreign Minister said.
Lammara added that the foreign investors will only have to ensure effective transfer of technology and training.
