High Resolution Aeromagnetic Survey to Enhance Amersfoort Project

Source: www.gulfoilandgas.com 4/1/2014, Location: Africa

The Directors of Kinetiko Energy Ltd are pleased to announce that Xcalibur Airborne Geophysics of Pretoria, South Africa has been commissioned to fly a 3,555 line kilometre aeromagnetic survey over part of the Amersfoort Project area. The survey will cover an area within which Kinetiko is considering a pilot field development of at least 5 linked production test wells. Suitably processed and imaged aeromagnetic data over the Main Karoo Basin coalfields of South Africa has been shown to provide detailed geological data essential for the optimal placement of production wells and for more informed reserve calculations.

Xcalibur Airborne Geophysics has extensive experience in conducting surveys in Africa with over 3,000,000 line kilometres flow to date. The survey is planned for early April pending suitable weather conditions and completion of permitting and landowner notifications. Data and initial images would then be available by the end of April and further processing and interpretation carried out in early May.

The survey will utilise a specialised fixed wing aircraft with wing-tip magnetic sensors capable of safely flying at low altitude. The sensors at each wingtip provide a large baseline for gradiometric analysis of the magnetic signal, resulting in enhanced interpolation between flight lines and in Horizontal Gradient Enhanced (HGE) gridding processes.

Survey parameters are as follows:

- Line spacing: 50m
- Tie line spacing: 500m
- Line orientation: 135°/315°
- Tie line orientation: 45°/225°
- Flying Height: 35m mean terrain clearance

The undertaking of aeromagnetic survey over part of the Amersfoort Project area represents the second of three phases designed to complete a technical review to optimise the company’s well site selection, design and operations.
