Petrobras Informs Clarification about the P-55 Platform

Source: www.gulfoilandgas.com 4/4/2014, Location: South America

Petrobras informs that, on March 16th, during the process of deploying the first of two pipelines that will offload oil from P -55 platform, located in the Campos Basin’s Roncador field, a steel cable connected to the crane of the Pipelay vessel Saipem FDS, ruptured and a section of the pipeline sank.

It should be noted that the damaged section has already been replaced with a pipeline from Petrobras's inventory that has been acquired to be used in the installation of the second P-55 oil pipeline. The installation of the first pipeline will still take place this month.

We also inform that the process of acquiring new pipes to replace the ones that were intended for the second pipeline has already been initiated. Hence, there will be no impact on the timetable for installation of the second pipeline, which is scheduled for the second half of 2014.

The offload of oil during the current phase of the project is channeled through a pipeline that has already been installed, connected to P-54 platform, according to the original plan. That pipeline will be replaced once the two definitive pipelines have been installed.

It is important to emphasize that this incident will have no impact on the production of Roncador field. The P-55 platform started-up operation in December 2013 and all wells will start production this year.
