The 580 kilometre 2D seismic programme, across the Piedra Sola and Salto exploration blocks in Uruguay, commenced in mid-July with the arrival of survey crews to survey and prepare access for the acquisition crews. With parameter testing to optimise data quality now complete, seismic acquisition has commenced.
Petrel’s 51% owned affiliate, Schuepbach Energy International LLC (“SEI”), have contracted Panamerican Geophysical Company Ltd to conduct the survey. Notwithstanding that the seismic data acquisition will take place principally on existing roads, the level of community support has been encouraging with over 200 group’s also granting access to private land where required. Acquisition is expected to take 10 weeks to complete, although data interpretation will begin almost immediately it is acquired. Resource and prospect definition will take place once a more complete picture of the acreage becomes available.
