As a solution capable of realizing lower cost, greater safety and shorter lead time, the modular fabrication technology has been widely used in the field for large onshore and offshore projects and LNG program. The influence of local environmental standards and the engineering of large scale, the requirements of the safety factor and efficient delivery, all make modular fabrication technology the inevitable choice of the marine engineering design construction. China has emerged as manufacturing centre for LNG modules, as indicated by recent impressive contract awards by French engineering giant Technip to build modules for Yamal LNG facility in Russia. At least six Chinese yards have or soon committed to building Yamal modules with total work scope exceeding 400,000 metric tonnes. The building commitment of such a scale may put Chinese yards at a number of fabrication, contractual, procurement and shipping risks.

Organized by BMC China and supported by Offshore Oil Engineering Co., Ltd. (COOEC), the 2014 version of Modular Fabrication Technology and Management 2014 (MFTM 2014) will devote much of its discussion on Yamal LNG challenges. The conference will address key issues of concern for fabricators in hope of minimizing risks. Home and abroad experts from top modular fabricators, marine engineering contractors and operators will have in-depth discussion and communication on the following key issues Latest Criteria and Standards for Prefabrication and Modularization,Module Fabrication Supply Chain Management and Outsourcing,Design and Fabrication Capability Building for Modules with Higher-standard etc, aiming to build an exchange platform for modular design, fabrication and management and explore future growth space for modular development and power the sustainable, rapid and health growth of global offshore oil industry.

The inaugural event in 2013 hit the industry with a big splash as more than 200 delegates gathered in Qingdao for three days conferences, dialogues, exhibitions and social events. Module fabrication industry has made headway along the path of lean, efficient and cost saving fabrication concept. It is not just a fashion, but a practical approach that integrates economic, environmental and labour considerations.

To be held on September 24-25 at hotel Four Points by Sheraton Qingdao, the 2nd annual will bring module fabrication designers, yard managers, project owners and shippers together to discuss, share, learn and interact on new technology, challenges and innovative solutions. Qingdao is China’s module fabrication hub, where COOEC, China Petroleum Offshore Engineering and McDermott Wuchuan have all been contracted to build modules for Yamal LNG project. The conference will bring delegates to tour the base so that they can see for themselves their facilities and meet senior executives for one-on-one discussions to deepen their communication and and expand cooperation.
