Repsol and Indra have been awarded by the trade publication for its World Oil (Hydrocarbon Early Detection and Automatic System), a unique technology in the world for the early detection of leaks of hydrocarbons at sea increases the safety of the facilities project HEADS the energy industry.
The HEADS Project, developed by the Repsol Technology Centre (CTR), has had extensive knowledge of Repsol in exploration and production, oil and marine environment. Indra, for his part, has contributed its expertise in image interpretation algorithms and their experience in the development of data processing in real time, as well as the construction and use of infrared cameras and radars and command centers and control.
HEADS has been awarded in the Health, Safety, Environment / Sustainable Development Offshore category, in which competing companies specializing in the development and marketing of offshore technology such as Halliburton and GE Oil & Gas.
The prestigious publication Oil World, a reference in the oil industry for nearly 100 years, with their awards recognize the most innovative companies bet on technology development to solve industry challenges.
Used in combination HEADS different detection sensors, adding automatic interpretation of the infrared and radar images and launch alarms without human intervention. The combined use of infrared and radar images to maximize the reliability and automation of the process and allows for a continuous monitoring and high reliability, which significantly improves the current systems.
The project, which was launched in late 2011, has involved a multidisciplinary team of over twenty experts and highly qualified researchers in the petroleum industry, physics, chemistry, radar, algorithms and software integration. Both companies have signed a patent by the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT) in more than 147 countries.
Repsol has become a leader in deepwater exploration through its commitment to innovation and technology. The 400 researchers working in the CTR have developed technological projects related to exploration, development and production of hydrocarbons. This center has carried out the project, the first facility is operating in the maritime platform Tarragona.
Once successfully completed the research and development phase of the system, both companies have addressed the marketing stage together and worldwide, by providing the energy industry the HEADS system.
Indra, for his part, has extensive experience in the development and implementation of technology solutions to the hydrocarbon sector in which it operates globally with 1,500 professionals and projects on five continents.
