Nigerdock Nigeria PLC has delivered the first ASME (American Society of Mechanical Engineers) ’U‘ stamped pressure vessel to be fabricated in Nigeria and western Africa. This is an indication that the vessel has been manufactured according to the specifications and procedures established by the ASME – a recognised technical standard for pressure equipment used around the world.

This vessel is a flare scrubber for Chevron Nigeria Ltd. The final hydraulic test took place on September 21, 2006, witnessed by LR Insurance Inc., a member of the Lloyd's Register Group, and Form U-1a and Form U-4 were signed the next day. The flare scrubber is a key component of Delta Production Platform Debottlenecking Project, due to become operational in the first quarter of 2007. Chevron is at the forefront in encouraging international standardisation and development of Nigerian fabrication facilities.

Nigerdock has further orders for ten pressure vessels for a Chevron gas to liquid (EGTL) project and three pressure vessels for a SPDC AFAM gas project. All of these will be inspected by LR Insurance, Inc. and ASME stamped. Manufacture of these vessels is due to commence in the next few weeks.
