Pemex and Chevron have signed a memorandum of understanding with a view to seeking new opportunities for cooperation that includes downstream and fuel distribution.
Mexican state oil company Pemex stated the document recognizes the long relationship the two companies have maintained for several years. As part of the agenda, issues related to upstream included deepwater, heavy oil and revitalization of mature fields, among others. However downstream was also included and stated opportunities within refining and distribution of fuel.
The environment which included reducing emissions of greenhouse gases, environmental protection and sustainable development as well as their responsibility to the community were covered. Finally the importance of health and safety conditions at work were stated in the agreement.
