Development plan of South Pars gas field is going ahead on schedule and remaining phases of the mega project will come online based on preset priorities, the member of Energy Commission of the parliament Shamsollah Bahmaei said.
Speaking to Shana on the sidelines of the public session of Parliament, Bahmaei said last week’s Energy Commission visit to South Pars gas field showed that development of the mega gas field goes ahead satisfactorily.
He continued Energy Commission of the parliament plans to allocate reliable resources to development of South Pars and will take into account the needs of the mega project in its debates on next year’s budget.
“By developing South Pars gas field we have no intention to persuade rising consumption in parallel with rising production, so it is absolutely necessary that we take into account efficiency and optimizing consumption”, the lawmaker told Shana.
In a reference to tumbling oil prices in world markets, the member of Energy Commission said that recent developments have provided a good opportunity for the parliament to cut reliance on oil revenues in drafting next year’s budget.
