Leading global solutions provider Intertek's Sunbury petroleum and petro-chemicals testing laboratory features in BBC Planet Oil programme, which starts broadcasting this Tuesday.
Intertek's Sunbury's Laboratory is one of the locations used by Professor Iain Stewart and the BBC team for the programme 'Planet Oil' which begins on Tuesday 10 February at 9 p.m. on BBC 2 in Scotland. This programme will be broadcast in England at a later date.
Intertek features in the first episode of the three-part series, which explores the importance of oil and how the world has become so reliant on it.
At Intertek Sunbury, Professor Iain Stewart and the BBC crew filmed crude oil distillation, showing what happens on a refinery but at a much smaller scale.
Crude oil assay specialist Darren Bond worked with the team heating different types of crude oil on a distillation unit to show the different crude fractions coming from it.
Anthony Sweetland, Laboratory Manager said: "Here at Intertek Sunbury, we have some of UK's best petroleum and petro-chemical scientists, so we were delighted to welcome the BBC team and to explain what we do in order to help people better understand what oil does for them."
Intertek Sunbury provides advanced research and routine analytical testing for a range of global petroleum and petrochemical clients. With significant industry and application knowledge, Intertek Sunbury helps these clients solve their quality, process and related problems.
