Ecopetrol began operating the Paramo plant, located 3,050 meters above sea level in the department of Narino, which allows for increased capacity pumping crude from 40,000 to 85,000 barrels per day in the Trans Pipeline.

The commissioning of this plant, which was destroyed in 2004 by a terrorist attack, was conducted between November 2011 and December 2014, time in which they were invested 716,000 hours / man. The development of this project was a challenge for the team due to uneven terrain to transport machinery, as well as by low temperatures up to 3 degrees Celsius and the difficult weather conditions in the area.

For the mobilization of pumping units and the passage of tractor-trailers was necessary to strengthen two bridges Guaitara and Chamuz in the town of Puerres. Resources were allocated by $ 7,500 million for rehabilitation and improvement of access roads between San Juan, Puerres and Monopamba. The reactivation of the plant P?ramo generated employment for the surrounding communities with 400 seats of local labor benefiting the same number of families by staff turnover.

Its operation is 24 hours a day, along with other plants in the Trans-Pipeline (which has a length of 305 kilometers) to transport crude oil from Orito, Putumayo, to the Maritime Terminal of Tumaco.
