The 2nd Waste Management and Recycling Summit took place on 17 - 18 March 2015, at the Grand Hyatt in Muscat. The Event focused on the challenges faced in environmental and waste management sector and to ensure the Sultanate of Oman moves towards a greener and zero waste future.
The event was inaugurated by H.E Sheikh Ali Bin Khalfan Salman Al Qutaiti, Head of Environmental and Health Committee, Majlis A’shura. The opening day of the conference will witness power packed presentations and discussions from waste management experts such as Mr. Ahmed Noori Al Raisi - Assistant Manager of Environmental Health Directory of Health Affairs for Muscat Municipality, Mr. Ahmed Bin Juma Al Zadjali - Head of Waste Management Section Ministry of Environment and Climate Affairs, Ms. Nadiya Al Harthy - Lead Radiation Focal Point for PDO and many more.
The summit had attracted delegates from various organizations such as the Ministry of Environment and Climate Affairs, Ministry of Regional Municipalities & Water Resources, Ministry of Agriculture & Fisheries, Muscat Municipality, Dhofar Municipality, Royal Guard of Oman, Akzo Nobel, Petroleum Development Oman, Petrogas E&P, United Plastic Manufacturing Co. to name a few.

This two day Summit provided the entire delegation with an ideal platform to identify some of the latest waste management and recycling technology and solutions which was showcased by leading global solution providers. The objective of the Event was to make the waste management system, environment and eco-friendly, and prohibit landfill disposal.
The Sultanate of Oman has shown significant progress over the last few years to in tackling the issue of waste management and recycling. The Muscat Municipality is also implementing an extensive campaign for cleanliness in the capital. They aim to raise awareness of a clean neighborhood with a recent initiative of putting out waste at certain times in the day.
