The General Petroleum Co. has made a new oil discovery in Abu Senan area in the Western Desert.
A well was drilled in the end of January and tests showed that it has layers of hydrocarbons, said geologist Taher el Zefzaf, the chairman of GPC.
Flow rates hit 1,358 barrel of oil per day, Zefzaf added.
Recoverable reserves are estimated to reach about 2.2 million oil barrels and 11 billion cubic feet of gas, he said.
