Achieving efficiency improvements, lowering costs and increasing performance through the use of mobile technology solutions is in focus at the third International SAP Conference for Oil and Gas in Berlin this week.
SAP specialists for upstream oil and gas, Absoft, will highlight the benefits of mobile solutions in a live case study presentation and demonstration on how to eliminate maintenance training costs for data entry in SAP using a custom app.
The mobile solution enhances the user experience for data entry using a simplified interface, which removes the need for recurring technician training and associated SAP support costs.
Bjorn Harzer, who leads the demo for Absoft, says: "The industry is under increasing financial pressure to achieve cost efficiency in operations due to oil price volatility. Mobile solutions, which can leverage SAP software, are a key driver for streamlining processes and reducing operational costs in oil and gas."
Absoft is also supporting a presentation delivered by Calum Davidson, SAP SCM team manager at Subsea 7, on global implementation of the SAP Equipment Tools Management System (ETM).
That platform interfaces with RFID tags and handheld scanners for effective equipment tracking in offshore operations.
The event, currently taking place at CityCube Berlin, attracts more than 400 SAP users from the global oil and gas industry.
