The President of the Plurinational State of Bolivia, Evo Morales, presented in the city of Tarija SFD airborne geophysical method that uses Oilfield Fiscales Bolivianos (YPFB Corporation) in exploratory operations to acquire data in the country.
"It will be a first experience in exploration in the nine departments with an airborne geophysical noninvasive method which means not harming the environment to know exactly what we have in this mother earth that after so many years of looting still appears natural resources," said Morales .
The presentation ceremony of the plane with SFD technology for hydrocarbon exploration that developed in the IV Air Brigade Cnl. Eustaquio Méndez Sands chapaca city, also attended the hydrocarbons minister Luis Alberto Sanchez, the governor of the department of Tarija, Adrian Oliva, president of YPFB, Guillermo M. Acha and other regional authorities.
NXT Canadian company that owns the patent, has been awarded this contract which lasts five months, the investment amounts to US $ 16.5 million.
"YPB is fully complying immediate Exploration Plan that are 86 projects in 63 new areas. SFD This system will be able to detect anomalies, ie, possible presence of hydrocarbons, "said the Minister of Hydrocarbons.
"The final results of this project will be taken in November, but this technique has the distinction of generating very early results which may take technical decisions in exploratory areas investigated. Using this method will be able to ensure that we will be able to have and new reserves of both gas and liquid, "added the president of YPFB.
This technique has been applied and has generated significant results in countries like Mexico, Colombia, Argentina, Canada, United States, among others.
"The SFD is an air, non-invasive geophysical method with which subsurface data that guide the detection of abnormalities associated with possible presence of hydrocarbons correlating with the existing seismic data are acquired, reduce exploration risk of a project" Acha said.
The planned acquisition of data SFD has considered all exploration plays (geomorphological zones) of Bolivia. "In other words, this project will have impact on all departments of the country. Are planned to acquire 8,732 kilometers in 112 flight lines, "said Acha.
The working procedure includes acquiring information airway equipment (sensors specially calibrated for the area to be flown) found inside an airplane, the information is stored on hard drives to be subsequently loaded on systems processing NXT company that are already installed in Bolivia. The generated results will be analyzed and evaluated by the technical team of YPFB in conjunction with technical support specialists NXT company based in Canada.
