As the Ireland Atlantic Margins licensing rounds approach, Ikon Science is offering oil and gas companies an opportunity to get ahead with a new and comprehensive interpretation of pressure and rock physics mechanisms, through a sponsorship position in The Ikon Science Atlantic Ireland Regional Study.
When a company sponsors an Ikon Science regional study, they get early access to a large scale understanding at a discounted rate during a period of exclusivity, after which the study is commercially available to non-sponsor potential operators at full price. Ikon Science regional studies work with greater volume of wells and data that any individual operator might reasonably use in an in-house project.
The study will highlight regionally consistent patterns and areas of anomalous behavior across the entire study area of Donegal Basin, Erris Basin, Slyne Basin, Rockall Basin, Porcupine Basin and Goban Spur.
“Exploration and development are most effectively undertaken within a regional context. What may seem anomalous in local terms on the scale of an exploration license, can make perfect sense when it is viewed in the light of regional trends and behaviours. Without the regional data you do not have all of the information you need for well planning. Our geopressure and rock-physics teams will draw on extensive regional experience along the Atlantic Margin including Newfoundland, Labrador, East and West Greenland, and West of Shetlands.” said Steve O’Connor Global Technical Lead GeoPressure.
Deliverables will be agreed by the sponsors’ steering committee participants but are likely to include:
- Fracture and overburden models
- Reservoir Compartmentalisation (lateral vs. vertical seals)
- Seal Breach
- Lateral Drainage/Fluid flow
- Fluid property analysis
- Effective stress relationships
- Rock properties analysis of key horizons
- Over pressure maps
- Comprehensive report, database and .rok file deliverables
