Head of Trade Promotion Organization of Iran (TPO) says Iranian enterprises are willing to form joint ventures with Japanese businesses in economic areas such as oil, gas, petrochemical, mining, and car making sectors. During a meeting with Executive Vice President of Japan External Trade Organization Tsuneyuki KATO in Tehran, Valiollah Afkhamirad called for expansion of business ties with Japanese enterprises.

He said Iran-Japan trade has declined 10% in recent years, adding things have changed in Iran and Japanese investors may put their investments in different fields in the country.

He called on Japanese enterprises to boost investment in Iran, saying that the level of trade between the two countries must rise.

For his part KATO said Japanese enterprises decided arranged for a visit from Iran immediately after the country's nuclear deal with P5+1.

He said several Japanese companies are willing to invest in Iran and such meetings shall pave the way for reaching this target.

A delegation led by State Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Daishiro Yamagiwa, arrived in Tehran on Saturday for a two-day visit to hold talks with Iran's senior officials.

The delegation comprises trade officials and executives of major Japanese industries such as Mitsui & Co., Kansai Paint Co., Sanden Holdings, Nippon Steel, Sojitz, ITOCHU and Kamematu.

Their visit to Iran is the first by a Japanese trade delegation in 14 years.

The delegation is the latest of a series of foreign delegations to flock to Iran in pursuit of normalizing ties by enhancing industrial and business cooperation with the country ever since it reached a historic nuclear deal with world powers in Vienna.
