Aker Kvaerner has signed contracts for the delivery of two complete drilling riser systems and associated equipment. The two customers are undisclosed. Total contract value is NOK 300 million.The two drilling risers will come at a combined length of almost six kilometres. They will be manufactured and delivered out of Aker Kvaerner Subsea's high tech manufacturing centre in Malaysia. Delivery is scheduled for 2009.
"Our new manufacturing centre in Malaysia has the capacity to capitalise on the boom in the worldwide rig market. Our technology is already field-proven, so we are in a good position for further growth," says Svein Haug, senior vice president for Umbilical & Riser in Aker Kvaerner Subsea.
