A working meeting between Alexey Miller, Chairman of the Gazprom Management Committee, and Klaus Schaefer, Chief Executive Officer of Uniper, took place today at the 6th St. Petersburg International Gas Forum.

The parties discussed the current state of the European gas market. The continued growth of demand for Russian gas was noted to be a major trend in Europe. According to preliminary data, from January 1 through October 3, 2016, Russia exported to Germany 1.99 billion cubic meters of gas more than in the same period of 2015. In September 2016, Gazprom's deliveries to Germany grew by 23 per cent compared to September 2015.

In that context, the meeting also focused on the development of infrastructure to transport additional gas volumes to the European markets.

The meeting participants reviewed the progress of the Nord Stream 2 project. Uniper reaffirmed its position to facilitate the project.
