Petroperu denounce and strongly reject a new attack against the pipeline Nor Peruano (ONP), perpetrated, near the native community New Covenant, in the district of Urarinas of Loreto, very close to where occurred spills of 55.5 kilometers and 52.4 of Section I of ONP last August.
In this regard, the technical team placed a staple manufactured in the pipeline, where it was hit by third parties and thus, the oil spill is already contained. The company is also working intensively on the Sabaloyacu broken and the banks of the Maranon River to minimize the environmental impact that would cause this new attack.
Petroperu regret that this new case of attack against the ONP remains motivated by improper attempt to monetize. Whereas this is a very serious crime, we are again denouncing this fact to the competent authorities, demanding the immediate arrest and detention of those responsible for this criminal act.
Petroperu have made the necessary coordination with the national government to have the support of law enforcement to help ensure the safety of this strategic infrastructure for the country.
Similarly, Petroperu invoke native communities, institutions and public opinion, not to be surprised by those who only seek personal gain, affecting the environment and health of the population as well as strategic assets of the country.
