Intertek, a leading total quality assurance provider to industries worldwide, has taken a progressive approach with the release of its redesigned Enhanced Well Control training programme to address International Oil and Gas Producers (IOGP) 476 guidelines.
This programme has been accredited by the International Well Control Forum (IWCF) and International Association of Drilling Contractors (IADC) for the delivery of Levels 3 and 4 well control training for drillers and supervisors. The IWCF and IADC are the acknowledged industry leaders in the promotion of quality, safety and integrity.
Through redesigning content and course delivery methods, in direct response to the IOGPs 476 guidelines as well as incorporating customer requirements, the course adopts a contemporary learning approach. This improves the learning process with a strong focus on course participants recognizing, interpreting and responding effectively to well control situations.
The new Enhanced Well Control course incorporates interactive electronic course materials such as digital screens, custom-built illustration and videos. Students are able to actively participate in the learning process and collaborate with each other through hands-on demonstrations of key concepts and problem-solving strategies.
Andy Lyon, Senior VP of Consulting & Training Services at Intertek Global Resources, said “Achieving the IWCF and IADC accreditations recognises Intertek’s position as a leader in delivering accredited programmes that exceed evolving industry standards to enhance well control training, examination and certifications. Our comprehensive courses now incorporate a learner-centred teaching approach that balances instruction with participant engagement. The new programmes are being launched in our Houston, Texas, training centre now, and will be in all of our training centres in 2017. We are proud to be able to offer this new programme throughout Intertek’s global facilities.”
Intertek Consulting & Training provides accredited well control and related training to all levels of oil and gas drilling operations as well as customised technical, leadership, and behaviour-based safety training and learning retention solutions for all high-risk industries.
