LUKOIL has put into operation a plant to manufacture permanent magnet motors in Western Siberia. The plant is designed to produce more than 5,000 motors per year. Along with better operational performance, the new facility brings new jobs to Yugra.

Compared to their predecessors, asynchronous induction motors, permanent magnet motors boast higher efficiency with an option to adjust the rotor speed. All of this allows for reducing power consumption by electrical submersible pumps (ESP) used in oil production by up to 25%. ESP flow rates can be easily adapted to variable conditions of oil recovery from petroleum reservoirs.
