The preliminary meetings has started in Baghdad between the both Iraqi & Iranian ministries of oil to prepare a form of a memorandum of the bilateral cooperation between the two countries in the sector of oil & energy.
Dr. Hamid Y. Salih the Iraqi deputy minister for the gas industry affairs said that the meetings which was attended by the responsible members from the both Iraqi & Iranian ministries of oil are involved within the strengthening of the bilateral relations between the two neighbor countries and expand the cooperation between them.
Dr. Salih said also that this meeting is aiming to prepare a draft of the preliminary memorandum of understanding which is supposed to be signed by the both Iraqi & Iranian mgeinisters during the next few days. The draft includes the file of the associated fields on the border, and the issue of supplying Iraq with the gas. In addition to the cooperation in the sectors of drilling, pipelines, technology, expertise exchange, the oil exploration and the Implementation of the associated projects in the oil & gas sector, in addition to the other cases which will be included in the memorandum of understanding.
Mr. Ameer Hussain the Iranian deputy minister shown the readiness of his country to expand the bilateral cooperation in the sectors of oil & gas, in addition to the supporting projects. At the same time he shown the readiness of his country to meet all the Iraqi needs of gas. He said also that there is a wide horizon of cooperation projects which can be activated and developed between the two countries.
Mr. Assim Jihad the spokesman of the ministry of oil said that the Iranian delegation included some of the directors general of the affiliated companies to the Iranian oil ministry.
