Schneider Electric Company in Azerbaijan has provided Baku Higher Oil School (BHOS) with the Triconex Demo system for production operations safety based on the Tricon (SIL-3) controller. It is set up at a Training Center, which has been also set up by Schneider Electric at the Higher School’s new campus, and shall be used for training and education of BHOS’ students and SOCAR’s specialists.
Donation of the equipment to the Higher School is aimed at providing material, technical and methodological support to ensure high-quality training of professional engineers at BHOS. It will also help them acquire basic knowledge of design and operation of the Triconex Demo system, become acquainted with its capabilities on the spot, learn about advanced technologies in the field of production processes’ safety, and better understand issues related to safety.
Triconex is a modern system designed to meet the needs of safety, prevention of industrial accidents and critical control applications for high hazard industries including oil and gas sector. For more than 30 years, it has been keeping equipment and production operating safely and continuously for life of the asset. The operations covered by the system include Emergency Shutdown, Fire and Gas Detection, High Integrity Pressure Protection, Burner Management, Boiler Protection, Turbine Protection, and Nuclear Safety and Critical Control.
As the Schneider Electric’s Central Asia Country President Emrah Tekdemir commented, the company intends to provide all necessary support the efforts of the Government of the Azerbaijan Republic on introduction and usage of modern technologies, engineering and services. “We very much hope that this new initiative of Schneider Electric will contribute towards achieving this goal and developing Azerbaijani engineers.
