Mr. Jabbar Ali Hussein Al-Luiebi the minister of oil confirmed that the priority of the ministry is to make the appropriate plans to invest the associated gas with the oil operations in Iraq and stop flaring it permanently by increasing the efforts to achieve this purpose.
Mr. Al-Luiebi headed a meeting with the deputy ministers, the inspector general and directors general of the south gas company the directorates of studies, planning, follow-up and technical which are concerned with the gas industry. He confirmed that the meeting discussed many plans to speed-up the establishment and execution of three key projects to treat the associated gas with the oil operations in Basrah, Maysan & Thi-Qar governorates.
Mr. Al-Luiebi said that the ministry of oil “despite of the economic & financial challenges” is working on to stop the associated gas flaring during the next few years to transform it into a useful energy to feed the power stations, the petrochemicals factories and the other industries. In addition to the investment of the surplus by exporting it in order to achieve financial outcomes. Such projects are capable of saving the crude oil which is a valuable wealth for the country.
Mr. Al-Luiebi said that this procedure is a part of an ambitious program to invest the gas in the southern region as an applied model of the general policy of the ministry via the determination of the appropriate procedures by cooperation with the international companies to achieve the appropriate stability of the energy industry in the country and create the perfect environment for the investment, as well as giving chances to the multi minor industries and more than 3000 jobs.
