Europe’s leading online optician, Mister Spex, has been successfully using the PSIwms warehouse management system from PSI Logistics GmbH for the optimisation of its web-shop’s logistics processes since November 2016. The PSI standard product controls the new main logistics centre in in Berlin-Siemensstadt in the areas of intra-logistics and production supply.
Via its website, Berlin’s Mister Spex GmbH offers the largest assortment of directly available brand name glasses and sunglasses as well as contact lenses throughout all of Europe. The online optician stores the major portion of its goods in its main logistics warehouse with an area of 6,500 square metres. From there, up to 10,000 packages are sent each day and more than 2 million customers served throughout Europe.
The PSIwms warehouse management system is connected to the Navision ERP system and controls all the processes from goods received to goods shipped. This includes the administration of the storage places, inventory as well as production supply and order handling. Two different picking systems are employed for this.
The picking is performed in optimised multi-order picks, which reduces travel distances by combining up to 50 orders in a pick. In addition, optimised scanning processes are used for the range of articles so as to achieve the desired efficiency. Supported by PSIwms, several thousand pairs of glasses are prepared for shipping everyday in various production processes – both internal as well as with external service providers.
With a competitive functional scope such as the intuitive PSI click design and the release capability as well as great flexibility, the future-oriented standard software provides a long-term guarantee for the future and allows Mister Spex an optimal customer service, fast order handling and maximum shipping speed.
