Iraq Orders to Raise the Production Capacity of Najaf Refinery to 50.000 B/D

Mr. Jabbar Ali Hussein Al-Luiebi the minister of oil visited Najaf governorate and met with the responsible officials in there. He also ordered to raise the production capacity of Najaf refinery to (50) thousand barrels/ day.

Mr. Al-Luiebi said that the ministry of oil have already made big plans to develop the production in the Iraqi refineries and improve the production units to meet the local needs of oil products and reduce the importation in order to save currency to the federal budget.

He said also that the ministry of oil has big projects to build many refineries in the south, middle and north of Iraq which was offered for the investment by the ministry during 2017, in order to produce more than one million barrels of oil products in order to be self-sufficient of the oil products and export the surplus to raise the financial outcome of the federal budget.

Mr. Assim Jihad the spokesman of the ministry of oil said that the minister of oil ordered to add more production units with a capacity of (20,000) barrels to the current capacity which is (30,000) barrels to make it (50,000) barrels.
