Iraq Signs $118M Two Contracts to Operate & Maintain Majnoon Oil Field

By the presence of the minister of oil and within the plan of the ministry of oil to develop the production operations in Majnoon oil field… Basrah Oil Company signed two contracts with Anton Chinese & KPR American Companies to operate & maintain Majnoon field.
Mr. Jabbar Ali Al-Luiebi the minister of oil confirmed on the keenness of the ministry of oil to develop the production in Majnoon field in order to achieve higher production levels according to the plans. He said also that the filed is considered as a big one in Iraq, and the ministry will develop it by depending on the national effort “after the withdrawal of BP Company from the development operations”.
Mr. Ihsan Abd Al-Jabbar the director general of Basrah Oil Company said that the two companies will provide the consultation to develop the abilities and transfer information. He said also that the contracts includes also a program of administration and standard maintenance to the field, according to the international requirements.
Mr. Abd Al-Jabbar said also that the two contracts will be specialized with the operation and maintenance according to the plans of the field administration to depend on the national efforts of Basrah Oil Company. He said also that the cost of the two contracts is (118) million dollars and there will be other secondary contracts supposed to be signed to elevate the production of the field.
