Chernomortransneft Puts Leakage Detection System at Novovelichkovskaya – Krasnodar Oil Trunk Pipeline into Commercial Operation
After successful tests, Chernomortransneft has put into commercial operation a leakage detection system (LDS) at the oil trunk pipeline (OTP) – Novovelichkovskaya – Krasnodar offshoot. The system is designed to provide continuous monitoring of the trunk pipeline tightness in all operating modes, including during shutdown of the pipeline.
While performing the trial operation the LDS was tested to detect the fact, volume and coordinates of oil leakage in real time. During the trial operation of the equipment, the requirements of industrial and environmental safety were observed.
As a result of testing the LDS of the Novovelichkovskaya – Krasnodar OTP, it was confirmed that the technical specifications fully comply with the requirements of the design documentation and Transneft regulatory documents. After that, the leakage detection system was put into commercial operation.
The Novovelichkovskaya – Krasnodar OTP was built as part of the Revamping of Oil Trunk Pipelines for Transportation of Oil to Refineries in Krasnodar Territory project. The purpose is to ensure the supply of sour crude for deliveries of sour crude to the Afipsky and Ilsky refineries in the amount of 4.5 million tonnes a year with the possibility of extension up to 9 MTPA.
