Repair & Fishing Operations of 2 Maroon Wells Fulfilled without Rig

Experts at the National Iranian South Oil Company (NISOC) successfully carried out repair of faulty wellhead valves for Wastewater Injection Well No. 116 and fishing operation for Well No. 153 of Maroon field without a rig.

According to NISOC, Younes Abbasi Laraki, director of the Well Repair, Completion and Technical Services Department of the company's, said: "These valves, which were not operational, after checking and securing the well, the defective equipment was replaced and repaired and by performing pressure testing according to the standard, the well was provided to the operating company as being ready for operation.”

He added: "The well was repaired without a rig and was put back into operation as soon as possible, following the passive defense instructions to prevent damage to the environment and the accumulation of a large volume of wastewater."

Abbasi Laraki stated: “Doing this job without the presence of a rig, in addition to preventing the interruption of gas injection operations for several months, prevented the costs of preparing the well site, the costs of repairing the rig and the procurement of rare and expensive equipment.”

Repairing the mentioned wells saved NISOC over Rls. 30 billion in expenses.
