Transneft Western Siberia has completed the technical upgrading of the automated fire extinguishing control system at the Orlovka oil pumping station (PS) of the Tomsk Regional Oil Pipeline Directorate (RPD).
The installation of the new automated fire extinguishing control system (AFECS) was performed as part of Transneft Western Siberia’s technical upgrading, revamping and overhaul programme. The previous fire extinguishing system had reached the end of its service life and had been decommissioned.
The new microprocessor system is based on programmable logistics controllers and meets all modern industrial automation requirements. Intelligent controllers allow operational personnel to provide real-time monitoring and control the fire extinguishing system of the oil pumping station through automated workstations.
The AFECS ensures continuous operation of the integrated fire alarm system in the mainline pump house, electrical room, oil pit and indoor switchgear. In addition, the possibilities of automatic start-up of the fire extinguishing system, data exchange with other automated systems of the facility, data transmission to the fire station of the PS, activation of light and sound alarms are implemented.
After comprehensive testing of the AFECS, the new equipment was commissioned. The system is currently operating under the standard protocol and is ensuring round-the-clock monitoring of the pumping station’s fire safety.
For reference:
A comprehensive fire protection system operates at Transneft Western Siberia’s operating facilities. All tank farms of the company are equipped with automatic foam extinguishing systems. The premises of the mainline pump stations are equipped with high-precision systems for detecting explosive gas concentrations, vibration and temperature control sensors, and oil leak detection sensors. In order to practice coordinated actions of personnel during fire emergencies, firefighting and tactical drills are carried out.
